Julie O'Brien, MA, LPC

Julie works with adults, couples, and teens, helping those who struggle with grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-harm, addiction, suicidal ideation, conflict, betrayal, divorce recovery, difficulty bonding, broken relationships, and strained parent / child relationships.
An ALCS team member since 2023, Julie’s professional and ministry background prior to 2023 included 30 years of lay counseling, 12 years of youth ministry, 15 years leading Griefshare and Twelve-Step groups, and 10 years working with victims of human trafficking. Julie’s training and professional experience, as well as her extensive ministry and life experience, have uniquely equipped her to come alongside those who are hurting, providing them the freedom to be as raw as they need to be in order to find peace, no matter their life stage or circumstance.
Julie earned her master’s in counseling from B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary and is a Certified Prepare Enrich Facilitator. She is TBRI trained, and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy to unearth hidden traumas and childhood wounds, and TBRI to address attachment needs and fear-based behaviors. Julie sincerely believes that there’s hope for anyone willing to do the inner work of healing through therapy and is honored to walk with them in that journey.
Julie has been married since 1988 and has four adult children and one grandchild. In 2002, she and her husband, Shayne, planted a church in the area, where they remain actively involved. Outside of her work with clients, Julie enjoys spending time with her family and serving her church community.
